The Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MINCyt) will finance the development of a research center for marine and coastal species south of the city of Mar del Plata, a project in which the National Council for Scientific and Technical Research also participates ( Conicet), the National University of Mar del Plata (Unmdp) and the Scientific Research Commission (CIC) of Buenos Aires, reported official sources. As of resolution 2023-737, published days ago, the portfolio led by Daniel Filmus will contribute almost one million dollars for the execution of the Technological and Experimental Center for Marine-Coastal Species (Ceteemar), which will be made up of four experimental units and development, and two service units. The financing will be through the Scientific and Technological Facilities Program of Strategic and Institutional Interest (FCT) of the ministry, and will allow the development of this new node with equipment and laboratories on the premises of the Nágera Coastal Station, a dependency of the Faculty of Exact Sciences and Naturals of the Unmdp, located in the spa town of Chapadmalal, 20 kilometers south of the Punta Mogotes Lighthouse. As reported by Conicet, the development will be focused on "highly technical and complementary units, consisting of compartmentalized, isolated and instrumented chambers to be able to carry out a wide variety of developments and experiments in them with highly controlled conditions and in an automated manner."
