The National Communications Entity (Enacom) formalized the allocation of frequency bands for the provision of 5G services in the country to the companies Telecom, AMX (which operates under the commercial name Claro), and Telefónica (Movistar), through the resolution 1473/2023 published today in the Official Gazette. It provided for the granting of lot 1 (frequencies between 3,300 and 3,400 megahertz) to AMX Argentina, lot 2 (between 3,400 and 3,500 Mhz) for Telecom Argentina, and lot 3B (between 3,550 and 3,600 Mhz) for Telefónica Móviles Argentina. . Meanwhile, lot 3 A, comprised by the frequency band between 3,500 and 3,500 megahertz, remained vacant. The provision grants AMX, Telecom and Telefónica a period of 15 days to make the payment of US$ 350,052,000; US$ 350,026,000 and US$ 175,013,000, respectively, which they may make in several disbursements. They may make the payment in dollars or pesos, taking as the exchange rate the closing price of the official dollar on the day before making the deposit. If you do not do so, Enacom is empowered to revoke the award, with loss of the guarantee of maintenance of the offer, which each company has already deposited in a timely manner.
