A group of fishermen made a shocking discovery on the coast of the department of Colonia, in southwestern Uruguay: a huge lifeless whale, weighing around 20 tons and measuring approximately 15.5 meters long. The authorities confirmed that it is a blue whale, a species known to be the largest in the world. The surprising thing about this discovery is that it is estimated that the animal had died at least 10 days ago, based on the state of decomposition in which it was found. According to the authorities, there were no records of a sighting of a blue whale off the coast of Uruguay in the last hundred years.
