The Mendoza writer and poet Raúl Silanes died

His works were multi-awarded and highlighted nationally and internationally. Many of them were translated into more than 15 languages.

The renowned writer Raúl Silanes, born in Chile in 1958 but who lived his entire life in Mendoza, died this Thursday at the age of 65 in the capital of that Cuyo province. His works were multi-award-winning. In addition, they transcended the limits of the country with international recognition. Silanes knew how to build throughout his life a personal universe marked by writing, covering genres such as poetry, novels and short stories. Among other titles that stand out in his work we can mention: "Underground Suns" (1892), "Return of Babel" (1986), "Sitiados" (1997), "The Grapefruit Juice Drinker" (1995), The illuminated" (2001) and Envy the wind to the deceased" (2012). "Today Mendoza has lost one of its most important intellectuals, with great pain I say goodbye to Raúl Silanes, a great friend, an enormous poet, novelist and journalist. A source of pride for our province, I accompany his loved ones in this difficult moment," expressed the governor of Mendoza, Rodolfo Suarez, on his social network account X. His works have been highlighted nationally and internationally, many of them being translated into more than 15 languages, the Mendoza governor added in his message.
