This Saturday, Pope Francis created 21 new cardinals, including three Argentines, whom he called to work together with the rest of the cardinals for a "common project" in the Church, in a new gesture of renewal of the Roman Curia with which He seeks to universalize the body that must elect his successor and reduce the influence of Europe among the eventual voters of a new pontiff. This Saturday, the pontiff led his ninth public consistory as Pope in San Pedro Square, with which he made official the creation of the new cardinals, among whom are the Argentine Víctor Manuel Fernández, prefect of the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith; the archbishop of Córdoba Ángel Rossi and the friar Luis Dri, 96 years old, who was not present and will receive the insignia in Buenos Aires. "The College of Cardinals is called to resemble a symphony orchestra, which represents the symphony and synodality of the Church," the pontiff told the new cardinals.
