"The LIF is already producing mifepristone, it is a reality and yesterday we packaged the medicine in blister packs, coinciding with the Global Day of Action for Access to Legal and Safe Abortion," its director Elida Formente told Télam. The board noted that "it was very emotional and very mobilizing to finish this intense three-year work, which took a lot of effort from the R&D (Innovation and Development) teams, and above all, because of the social and public health implications that has to produce in our country a medicine that contributes to the realization of a right". "There are not many laboratories in the world that make this type of medicine," he stated and highlighted that "the public laboratory is always at the forefront, it is a pioneer in Argentina." In that sense, the director of the LIF considered: "We are in an important moment to demonstrate everything achieved by public and state work, by the rights achieved, to go for more and not go back." Starting today, mifepristone will be available in the 795 public providers in the 5 regions that make up the public health system of the province of Santa Fe (Rafaela, Reconquista, Rosario, Santa Fe Capital and Venado Tuerto) and it is expected shortly be able to distribute it in the rest of the country
