The acting president of the Spanish Government, Pedro Sánchez, stated this Wednesday that he is "very eager" for the sessions of the Congress formed after the last elections to begin and to "form a Government", a circumstance for which he needs the support of the Catalan independence movement. that has not yet been finalized.

"Of course I really want to start this legislature now, to get it going, to form a Government and to consolidate the progress," said the leader of the Spanish Socialist Workers Party (PSOE) in a speech at the Business Economic Forum organized by the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of New York, where he is to participate this Wednesday in the UN General Assembly, reported the Europa Press news agency.

Sánchez's words come a day after he ruled out a repeat election and expressed his conviction that he will be able to form a new Executive, as he stated in an informal conversation with journalists covering his trip.

Sánchez also made these statements just a few days before the investiture of the leader of the conservative Popular Party (PP), Alberto Núñez Feijóo, which will be held on September 26 and 27 and who will foreseeably not achieve a sufficient majority.
