Diplomats praised Massa for his foreign policy "in favor of Argentines"

The members of the foreign service highlighted Massa's "unwavering" commitment to the Argentine sovereign claim over the Malvinas, South Sandwich and South Georgia Islands, and his "will to consolidate Mercosur and regional institutions

More than twenty Argentine career diplomats expressed their support this Sunday for the presidential candidacy of Sergio Massa (Unión por la Patria) because, among other reasons, "he promotes a model for negotiating commercial, economic and political agreements that benefits the workers, national businessmen and all Argentine men and women.

One of the signatories, the Argentine ambassador to Switzerland, Gustavo Martínez Pandiani, said in statements to Télam that "foreign policy must become a tool to achieve development with inclusion."

As a "counterpoint to the ideas" expressed during the electoral campaign by Javier Milei and Patricia Bullrich, the presidential candidates of La Libertad Avanza (LLA) and Together for Change (JxC), respectively, who "questioned the relationship with China or with the Brics", Martínez Pandiani mentioned as an example that "the Asian giant has as its three main partners the United States, Japan and South Korea, countries far from communist systems."

For the Argentine ambassador to Switzerland, Argentina has a "historical, political and cultural" relationship with Brazil. For this reason, he said, "believing that Lula cannot be our partner because he is a 'communist' is not only a lack of seriousness in the analysis, but a very important strategic error."

In the public letter, which is titled "For a pragmatic foreign policy at the service of the national interest, exports, Argentine work and productive investments," 24 career diplomats justified their support for Massa by highlighting that "he is committed in a way "inalienable with the Question of the Malvinas, South Sandwich and South Georgia Islands as a national cause, as well as with the consolidation of our Antarctic and ocean policy."

The objective of a policy of this type, they indicated, is "to have more and not fewer allies and partners that allow us to improve the quality of life of workers and small and medium-sized merchants."
